Mission — Inspire Happiness

Pat Graves is the only speaker who tells his story while performing it — landing trick shots and acrobatic flips live, mid-sentence, in front of the whole school. Part motivational speaker, part performer, all real.

A few minutes of flips, dunks, and crowd reactions from recent shows — exactly what your students will see.

What Makes It Different

Not Your Average Assembly

Most assemblies ask students to sit and listen. This one asks them to watch someone chase a dream in real time — dunks, flips, and all.

🤸

Live Acrobatics

Real trick shots and flips performed throughout the talk — not a video, not a highlight reel, happening right in front of the crowd.

🎤

A Real Story

Depression, a 1,115-day streak, and coaching a televised professional sport — Pat's story is lived-in, not a script written for a stage.

💥

Built to Land

High-energy pacing designed for elementary, middle, and high school attention spans — big moments every few minutes, not a lecture.

🌱

A Message That Sticks

Students leave with a specific way to think about failure and happiness — not just a memory of a cool trick.

Beyond The Assembly

This Isn't A Talent Show

Flip the Script works for a packed gym on any given day — the flips get everyone's attention, and the message lands with every kind of student. But it hits a little differently for the kids who are quietly struggling. What Pat says in between the tricks is what stays with them.

Pat's story comes from a real place. He grew up dealing with anxiety and depression, watched his parents divorce, and got made fun of for being a male gymnast. Flipping became something he could count on — a way to stay true to his own happiness instead of giving up on it. That's the message he brings into every gym: your circumstances don't have to define you. It resonates with any student, and it can mean even more to the ones who are struggling the most.

Where It Comes From

The Story Behind It

Flip the Script isn't a persona built for the stage. It's Pat's actual story, told the way he actually lived it.

The FlipADay Journey

From January 1, 2014 to January 19, 2017, Pat filmed himself landing a new flip or trick shot — every single day. 1,115 days straight. No off days, no shortcuts. It started as a personal challenge and became the foundation for everything after.

SlamBall Aerial Specialist

The consistency paid off in a way Pat never planned for: a spot as an Aerial Specialist in SlamBall, the trampoline-powered pro sports league. Proof that showing up every day can take you somewhere you didn't know existed.

Inspire Happiness

Underneath the flips is a harder story: his parents' divorce, a battle with anxiety and depression, and getting bullied for being a male gymnast. Flipping became his medicine — and choosing to chase happiness on purpose is what built the career. It's the same mission Pat brings into every gym he speaks in.

What Students Experience

  • A live show that mixes storytelling with real acrobatic trick shots — flips, dunks, and moments the whole gym reacts to together.
  • An honest look at failure: what 1,115 days of trying (and plenty of missed tricks) actually teaches you.
  • A framework for separating who you are from what you've achieved — identity vs. outcome, explained through Pat's own setbacks.
  • Real talk on mental health and chasing happiness, without ever feeling like a lecture.
  • A message students can actually use: commitment, consistency, and turning whatever they're passionate about into a purpose.

"

FlipADay came to our school and delivered a powerful message about "Chasing Your Happiness." His story is authentic, engaging, and deeply impactful. Through humor, honesty, and resilience, he reminds students that their circumstances do not define their future. Every student—especially those facing challenges or adversity—needs to hear this message. Pat's ability to connect with young people is remarkable, and his story will stay with them long after the assembly ends. When students encounter obstacles in their own lives, they'll remember his message of perseverance, hope, and choosing a path toward happiness.
